Vintage Batman and Robin action figures displayed among a collection of classic superhero toys, representing the nostalgia and storytelling behind pop culture collecting.

Every collection has a story.

Maybe it's the record you never stopped playing, the book you've been searching for, the autograph that proved you met your hero, the place where the stories became real, or the movie poster that still makes you feel like a kid again.

A price guide can tell you what something is worth. Only you know its real value. That's where POP nakaro begins.

We uncover the stories behind the people, places, objects and experiences that shaped pop culture.

POP nakaro. Where fandom finds a voice.

Writer. Storyteller.
Lifelong fan.

Tim San Fillippo is POP nakaro’s founder and publisher. A writer, photographer and lifelong fan of movies, music, comics, vintage toys and lunch boxes, he has spent more than 25 years telling stories and helping people and organizations find their voice.

A card-carrying member of Generation X, Tim saw Star Wars in theaters, grew up riding the rides at Pontchartrain Beach and still hasn’t forgiven Houston for turning Astroworld into a dirt field.

Childhood weekends and summers often included bike rides to the local Time Saver for spinner-rack comics, Garbage Pail Kids, rack toys and, almost always, a Coke ICEE. There were records spinning at home and countless trips to video rental stores.

That fandom followed him into adulthood. He has been a fixture in fan communities, from building websites for comic shops and local artists to helping establish and grow fandom brands including Krewe du Who, The Week in Geek and CoastCon.

Beyond POP nakaro, Tim is a communications strategist, writer and speaker who helps organizations find clarity, tell better stories and build stronger connections with the people they serve.
